New Board Member: Mollie Lyden

We are thrilled to introduce our newest Board member of FLIP, Mollie Lyden! FLIP’s Fitness Before the Feast!

Fitness Before the Feast Calendar! Fall brings colder weather, which also typically brings with it a decrease in physical activity.   FLIP wants to keep you active this fall with “FLIP’s Fitness Before the Feast”. This workout challenge is 4 weeks long, ending the Friday before Thanksgiving (hence the “feast”). The goal will be to motivate each other by completing each daily task and posting progress by tagging FLIP on facebook and instagram posts. Even better motivation, the person who posts the most by tagging FLIP in their photos will receive a $150 gift card to Second Sole Gahanna at the end of the challenge! WOW is all that we can say! Thank you to everyone that joined us last Saturday for the 6th Annual Darby Creek Trail Run. The energy around the start/finish line was fantastic, inspiration was running high and the weather was perfect! We are so excited to surpass our highest race turnout this year BY FAR with 327 total participants signing up (with 60% of the runners taking on the challenging 10k)! Congratulations to the 5k winners: Ansel Nalin and Taylor Koenig and our 10k winners: Andrew Ziminski & Molly Dengler! National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

  Did you know… that March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month since 2000 when President Bill Clinton made the declaration? In fact, March 3 was National Dress in Blue Day to recognize those lives that have been affected by colorectal cancer. The American Cancer Society has reported that not only are colorectal cancer cases rising among young adults, it is the third most common form of cancer in the US. Tips to lower your chance of getting colorectal cancer: Get screened before the recommended age of 50 Maintain a healthy body weight Increase the intensity of your physical activity Limit red and processed meats *As recommended by the American Cancer Society

FLIP Power Team The FLIP Power Team is designed to create a powerful movement of advocates, dedicated to inspiring others and supporting the preventative fight in Columbus. This team is step up from ‘FLIP Enthusiasts’ (community members that follow our mission and attend events). We are challenging the Power Team to help FLIP achieve its audacious goal: to put Columbus on the map as the leader in cancer prevention, saving more lives through a proactive fight, one family at a time! We are tasking this team with helping us move the needle on prevention in a meaningful way.
