March – Prevention Through Sports

Prevention through Sports

FLIP’s theme for March is: Prevention Through Sports! Sports are a big part of our mission, because they take us back to that time in life when it wasn’t about staying fit or losing weight… it was all about having #FUN! You will notice FUN is a huge theme for FLIP. Dust off an old passion, or try a new sport… don’t force fitness… have fun! ‪#FUN‬ ‪#simpleFLIPs‬‪ #PreventionThruSports‬

Tip: Anchor your activity for the week with a sport. It will keep you committed to a scheduled day; give you something to look forward to every week #FUN; provide a great way to stay up with friends #SOCIAL; and is an easy way to get someone active with you #INSPIRE

#Community: Where in Columbus can you get friends together for a sport? Check out these options below:
1. Head on down to Scioto Audubon Metro Park and try their rock climbing wall, sand volleyball courts and the rotary obstacle course. http://www.metroparks.net/parks-and-trails/scioto-audubon/activities/
2. Join your friends and signup for a Columbus Young Professional sports team!  https://www.cypclub.com/athletics
3. Sign up for a Kickball League downtown at the Columbus Commons! http://www.columbuscommons.org/happenings/kickball/

Goal: Get at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity each week (or a combination of these), preferably spread throughout the week. (ACS guidlines)
