2018 DCTR: That’s A Wrap!

WOW is all that we can say! You OUTRAN CANCER and YOU ROCK. Thank you to everyone that joined us on Saturday for the 7th Annual Darby Creek Trail Run. The energy around the start/finish line was fantastic, the speakers were amazing, the post-race party was bumping and the weather held out for us! We were excited to welcome 325 runners this year! With the funds raised we will continue spreading cancer prevention awareness, reinforcing education and inspiring preventative action through events. Next up will be our 2nd Annual Prevent Event, where we will offer prevention tips, free health screenings, farmer’s market food sampling and fitness classes at VUE Columbus. What/Why: FLIP’s 6th Annual Darby Creek Trail Run- 5k Run/Walk & 10k Trail Run When: Saturday, July 15th.  Registration begins at 7:45am. Races begin at 9am… After party directly when races are complete (RAFFLE PRIZES GALORE) Where: Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park Registration Page: http://www.racepenguin.com/events/darbycreektrailrun/ Race Background/Information: The course will be a 5k and 10k trail run through the picturesque but challenging terrain of Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park. The 5k is relatively flat and can be enjoyed by runners and walkers of all skill levels. The 10k is a true challenge ending in a stair climb that has become infamous among the Columbus trail running community. National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

  Did you know… that March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month since 2000 when President Bill Clinton made the declaration? In fact, March 3 was National Dress in Blue Day to recognize those lives that have been affected by colorectal cancer. The American Cancer Society has reported that not only are colorectal cancer cases rising among young adults, it is the third most common form of cancer in the US. Tips to lower your chance of getting colorectal cancer: Get screened before the recommended age of 50 Maintain a healthy body weight Increase the intensity of your physical activity Limit red and processed meats *As recommended by the American Cancer Society

FLIP Cancer’s Private Dinner

FLIP is planning a private dinner to engage new advocates in FLIP’s cancer prevention mission.  Since founding FLIP in 2010, we have known that we would need to eventually hire the full time director that FLIP deserves. FLIP’s private dinner will kickoff a fundraising campaign designed to enable FLIP to hire a director and impact significantly more lives through cancer prevention.
