Is a daily walk in the park good for your health? Of course! But is it enough? Probably not. The American Heart Association recommends:
- At least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity at least 5 days per week
OR
- At least 25 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity at least 3 days per week
AND
- Moderate to high intensity muscle-strengthening activity at least 2 or more days per week
If you aren’t able to make these recommendations, do what you are able to. You have to start somewhere! What is important is that you get out there and challenge yourself to live a healthier lifestyle. Use these standards as a measuring point to where you are now and where you want to be!
If you need some help getting started, see our previous article “Tips to Maintaing a Healthy Weight.”
