Metro parks are a great way to get in touch with the outdoors without the hassle. The best part is that they can offer different experiences and great adventure.
I’ve been visiting local Columbus metro parks and I have had some unforgettable experiences.
At Highbanks I had a deer sneak up behind me and watched an eagle soar from an observation deck overlooking the Olentangy. At Scioto Audubon, I explored the wetlands, climbed the rock wall, and played sand volleyball, all with a gorgeous view of the city. At Battelle Darby Creek, I picnicked with friends after watching the Bison graze.
Getting active is about more than running on a treadmill four times a week. It’s a lifestyle change. And it’s fun! If you haven’t been visiting your local parks, you’ve been missing out. Your FLIP challenge is to visit a park, and do your own thing. Walk, run, bike, play, explore!
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” –Henry David Thoreau
